There are No Saints ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book follows Mara Eldritch, a broke struggling artist, and Cole Blackwell, a wealth highly respected artist by day. By night, he is a methodical murderer. How is he famous yet unrecognizable ? That was a question I wondered for both him and the villain of the book.
Cole gets drawn to Mara and their lives become intertwined by their shared enemy and their art. Throughout the book they slowly fall deeper into their obsession with one another while trying to figure out who to trust. Cole offers Mara everything she could ever want while the only thing Cole wants in return is her.
I liked their chemistry together. It was chaotic and obsessive but there was some wholesomeness. Mara's character was lovable, passionate and strong willed. Cole was psychotic, obsessive, greedy and... uncontrollable. He was depicted to be this calculated person but Mara had made him more irrational and it showed.
There were quite a few scenes that made no sense but also helped with the psychopath narrative in an odd way. For instance, there was a scene where they end up tattooing each other. To show they owned each other. As people who have never done tattoos before but its perfect and effortless because they're artists, duh. There's also no mention of the man Cole "practiced" on beforehand.
On the spice scale I'd say 🍆🍆🍆/5. I wouldn't give it more simply because there is actually a decent amount of plot and there is an actual storyline. Overall, I'd give the book a 3.75/5. It was fun and I liked the incorporation of illustrations and music in the book. I look forward to the second book and hope its as entertaining as this one.
